NCRTA is glad to announce the initiative of implementing a not-for-profit, community-based mentoring program for the youth of our community. The target group is youth who are currently in grades five to twelve. The focus will be on providing educational support to our youth in the Ottawa region via a system of networking of available tutors and interested students.

The objective of this initiative is to make an immediate direct and positive impact in their performance at school through this mentoring program.

As tutors, NCRTA will utilize volunteers from a pool of adults who have appropriate background and experience in the subjects of interest and students who are in the university or in higher grades. The mentoring program will aim to cover basic subjects such as mathematics, science, English, and French.

The first step in implementing this program is to gather the necessary contact information from volunteers who are willing to contribute their time as mentors for the students. NCRTA will maintain the mentor contact information in a database for the use of students who are looking for help. Hence, we are asking all those who are interested in taking part in this exciting and rewarding new community service to register with NCRTA by providing their details.

This is an opportunity for high school students to learn valuable mentoring skills and also earn volunteer hours.

Parents, If you would like your university and / or high school going kids to volunteer for this community service to mentor lower grade students, please encourage them to register with NCRTA.

Youth under the age of 18 who would like to register as a mentor will require parental consent.
