NCRTA held its first event, 2005 summer picnic, on August 13th 2005 at Vincent Massey Park. Everyone acknowledged it as a great success. Over 200 adults and more than 50 seniors took part in the event and the highlight was the enthusiastic participation of more than 100 children. It was a fun and there was nothing but happiness on everyone's face.
The weather gods blessed us with perfect 25 degrees with sunshine. From the beginning to the end there were plenty of events for all ages from children to seniors. Just to add some flavour and to bring little bit of competitiveness out of people, NCRTA divided the participants into 4 teams. YELLOW, RED, GREEN and BLUE were competing among them fiercely and the top spot has changed hands through out the day. Eventually the YELLOW and BLUE team prevailed and tied at the top spot with an impressive 96 points followed by RED with 76 points. Green took 4th place with 75 points. Thanks to the team leaders who made this a successful event. There were also many volunteers came forward at the picnic, thanks to them as well. No picnic can be successful without good participation of people. Even though it was organized in a very short period of time, it turned out to be a very successful event. NCRTA thanks you all. This is just the beginning, we urge all national capital region Tamil residents to become member of NCRTA and make a difference.
