February/March 2018: NCRTA Indoor Winter Sports Event 2018
NCRTA is holding its annual indoor winter sports meet for 2018 on March 3rd, March 5th and March 24th at the École élémentaire publique Maurice-Lapointe in Kanata. We will be hosting various events including badminton, soccer and volleyball. Our goal is to reach out to as many children, youth and adults to promote teamwork, sportsmanship and a little friendly competition. Please ensure to register before the deadline.

May 16, 2016: MARAVOME - May Remembrance Event
The remembrance event of 2016 will be held on Monday, May 16, 2016 between 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Ben Franklin Place -- The Chamber, 101 Centrepointe Drive, Nepean. We are conducting a multi-faith prayer to remember the victims. We will also fast before the event to recognize the suffering the people endured and break the fast at the end of the event by drinking water or juice.

May 11, 2016 - May 18, 2016: Remembrance of the victims of the May 2009 tragedy in Sri Lanka
May 2016 is marking the 7th anniversary of the very tragic and traumatic events that took place in Sri Lanka. Leading up to May 19, 2009, tens of thousands of people lost their lives. During the month of May every year from 2009, all Tamils world over remember with deep sorrow the victims who lost their lives and those who were maimed during this dark period in our history. We are declaring a week of remembrance for the victims to be observed between May 11, 2016 and May 18, 2016 to mark this tragic part of our history.

NCRTA will be marking its 10 years of service to the Tamil community on March 21, 2015. Our 10th Anniversary Celebration Dinner/Dance will be done in a grand style in a formal setup to celebrate the great work done by the Patrons, Sponsors, Volunteers and supporters of NCRTA on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Ukrainian Banquet Hall, 1000 Byron Avenue, Ottawa. Tamil organizations in Ottawa called for observance of a week of remembrance between May 11th and May 18th to remember the deep sorrow the victims who lost their lives and those who were maimed during this dark period in our history.

The National Capital Region Tamil Association (NCRTA) is holding its 2013/2014 Cricket Clinic for children with the support of Nepean Cricket Club (NCC) starting Sunday, October 06, 2013. The sessions are held on Sundays for two hours, starting at 1:00 PM. There are 22 sessions in total. The first half of each session will focus on improving skills and the second half will have a mini game.

Aug. 24, 2013: Talk by Isaik Kavi Ramanan in Ottawa (2013)
Isaik kavi Ramanan from Chennai is coming to Ottawa and will deliver a speech on the title "vazhkkaiye kavithaiyaka". Mr. Ramanan hails from Thirunelveli, Tamil Nadu and is a well known speaker, singer, writer, poet, actor and TV presenter. He has written many books and articles that are sold all over the world. His speeches are mixed with his melodious songs which earned him the title "isaik kavi". In this order, Mr. Ramanan is coming to Ottawa to quench our thirst to listen to a Tamil speech with songs. Jun. 02, 2012: Ride for Dad participation in memory of Mr. Saba Ravishankar
The Motor Cycle Ride for Dad event is held each year to raise funds for prostate cancer research. This event has raised over 1.7 million dollars. This year the event in Ottawa will be held on Saturday, June 02, 2012. A group of friends of Ravi will be riding their bikes to participate in the fund raising under the team name "RAVISHANKAR SABA (Ottawa) " led by former NCRTA board member Mr. Alex Sivasambu.

The Motor Cycle Ride for Dad event is held each year to raise funds for prostate cancer research. Last year, this event raised 1.7 million dollars. July 01, 2009: BarrhavenLive Multicultural Fest - July 2009
BarrhavenLive Multicultural Fest is a part of the Canada day celebration in Barrhaven. Tamil children trained by Jini Majur of Nirtyalaya Dance Academy will perform on the stage at 6:50 PM. Please come and participate in the Canada day activities and show your support to the children. Ottawa-Nepean Coordinator of NCRTA is coordinating the Tamil community event in the Multicultural Fest.

National Capital Region Tamil Association (NCRTA) cancelled its Fourth Annual Sports Tournament due to the ongoing IDP crisis in the Vanni region. We have been and will be focusing our efforts on bringing attention to the plight of the affected civilians in Vanni and in helping them in any avenues available to us.

The National Capital Region Tamil Association (NCRTA) held its third annual general meeting on Saturday Oct 20, 2007, at the Walter Baker Centre (Hall B), 100 Malvern Drive in Ottawa. Elections were held for executives and directors of the 15 member 2007-2009 board. The positions elected were President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Assistant-Secretary, Cultural Coordinator, Youth Coordinator, and Sports Coordinator. In addition, seven directors including 3 Chapter Coordinator (Ottawa Nepean, Ottawa West, Ottawa East/Centre) were also elected.

Aug. 13, 2005: Inaugural Summer Picnic
NCRTA held its first event, 2005 summer picnic, on August 13th 2005 at Vincent Massey Park. Everyone acknowledged it as a great success. Over 200 adults and more than 50 seniors took part in the event and the highlight was the enthusiastic participation of more than 100 children. It was a fun and there was nothing but happiness on everyone's face.
